Has been quite complimentary of his Brazilian teammate Lucas Paqueta, suggesting that he possesses all the necessary skills to excel at the London Stadium.
The two were teammates at French club Lyon before eventually moving to East London to rekindle their partnership for West Ham. The left-back and Paqueta are good friends.
Emerson also made a playful jab at Paqueta’s dancing, saying that as soon as he starts, he leaves the scene because he doesn’t want to get involved and look foolish.
On September 29, Emerson gushed about his Brazilian teammate in an interview with The Athletic, saying: “He has everything, from power to talents and he loves the game.
“He is capable of becoming a top player. He’s like a brother to me, yet I constantly tell him “I’m out” when he starts to dance. Never me, just Lucas dancing! We were teammates in Lyon, and when I joined the team, he was helpful in making me feel at home.”
“I was more than pleased to repay the favor and aid him when he came here last season. Including topics outside of the Premier League, including learning a new language, as well as what to anticipate there. As I mentioned, I assist him with the translation and consider that man to be a brother.”
Invariably, having tight ties among teammates improves the atmosphere in the locker room, which boosts morale at the team and improves performance.
The Hammers want to have a solid dressing room with positive relationships, so having players who are happy to be there and teammates they feel they can connect with off the field would only be beneficial.
Having players that get along well off the field not only improves the environment in the locker room but also makes it simpler for them to fit in with the team. There will be welcoming faces for newcomers at the London Stadium, which is always a plus.
The aim for Emerson and Paqueta is that, as the team looks to challenge for more hardware following last season’s triumph, their friendship will continue to grow both on and off the field.
