Wollacott had to travel a long way to obtain a consistent position in the EFL. The goalkeeper, who graduated from Bristol City’s system, underwent a number of loan stints in English football’s lower divisions until making his big break while playing for League Two club Forest Green Rovers.
In 15 games there, he kept an incredible nine clean sheets while only allowing nine goals. Wollacott would later return to Ashton Gate because he had trouble securing a starting position at The New Lawn.
Wollacott would sign a permanent deal with Swindon Town in the summer of 2021, following a brief temporary loan in February of that same year. After a successful season there, he was transferred to Charlton Athletic, where he joined Ben Garner in leaving the County Ground.
The 27-year-old began as Garner’s no.1 but was forced to miss time with a fractured finger. Dean Holden took over as Garner’s no.1 during this period, and Ashley Maynard-Brewer took over as the no.1, which led to a sale to Hibernian this summer.
