Jarrad Branthwaite has a ‘fantastic’ future, according to Peter Reid.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the former midfielder lauded Branthwaite and stated that he will only improve as the season progresses.

Despite having only made 10 Premier League appearances prior to this season, the defender has suddenly become one of Everton’s most crucial players in recent months.

Branthwaite’s outstanding loan stay with PSV last season piqued the interest of his parent club, and he was given his big chance when Michael Keane was dropped following the crushing defeat to Aston Villa.

Since then, the 21-year-old has been outstanding and has done an excellent job of stabilizing the backline. Branthwaite was rewarded with a new and better four-year deal after starting the previous five games in the top tier.

Branthwaite had attracted interest from Manchester United and PSV, but he now appears poised to stay at Goodison Park, with Reid predicting a successful career for the kid.

“I think he’s done fantastic,” Reid told the ECHO. “I think he appears composed; he has a certain air about him, and he has been very impressive.”

“I believe he has a bright future ahead of him.” He appeals to me. I believe he reads the game quite well and detects danger, something I value in defenders.

“He’s adapted tremendously well in difficult circumstances because, as we all know, the Blues are struggling right now.”

“He’s gone in there and finished smashing.” I just believe that the more games he plays, the better he will become.

Branthwaite’s business is brilliant.

Jarrad Branthwaite definitely benefited greatly from his experience in the Netherlands, but it only took him a few games to appear at ease in the Premier League.

Given Everton’s current financial condition and struggles to avoid relegation, the club has done very well in securing a new contract for the 21-year-old.

If Branthwaite is committed to his deal, it could be a fantastic piece of business from the Toffees, who may have a top-tier England starter on their books in a matter of years.
