According to a report by Fichajes, Aston Villa are keen on having Dani Ceballos in their ranks. They are looking to bolster their midfield and have had their eye on the 27-year-old of late. The Premier League club are willing to pay €30 million to sign him from Real Madrid.
After coming through the ranks at Real Betis as a young prospect, Ceballos joined Los Blancos in the summer of 2017. In the initial two years after joining Real Madrid, he never really got much game time. And, they ended up sending him out on loan to Arsenal.
The Spanish international was a part of the Gunners’ setup for two years. He returned to his parent club in the summer of 2021. Even after a successful stint at Arsenal, nothing much changed, and he did not really get much game time at Real Madrid until the final phase of last season.
Carlo Ancelotti ended up giving him extended minutes last season, and the 27-year-old did not disappoint. Ceballos’s impressive performances resulted in a contract extension offer. His new contract now runs until the summer of 2027
However, he still remains way down the pecking order at Real Madrid. Meanwhile, the arrival of Jude Bellingham and his sensational form have not done him any good. Ceballos was out injured in the initial matches. But even after being available, he has not been a preferred choice this season, and that is unlikely to change given the number of quality midfielders the Spanish giants have.
As a result, the 27-year-old could consider parting ways with Real Madrid in the winter. And, this is where Aston Villa come in. Villa are keen on bolstering their midfield, and they have had their eyes on the Spanish international for a while.
The Midlands club feel he could do wonders for them. Unai Emery is a big fan of the Real Madrid midfielder, and he feels his arrival could help Aston Villa take the next step. Ceballos has played in the Premier League back in the day, and it won’t be that big a task for him to settle in.
According to the report, the English club is willing to pay his estimated asking price of €30 million to obtain his services. They have the financial resources and are seeking to stretch their muscles in order to get him in during the January transfer window.
