Kieran Maguire, a specialist in football finance, confesses he was taken aback by Angus Kinnear’s assertion that Leeds United had saved £40 million in salary by allowing players to go on loan. He continues by saying that should the Whites require extra signings for a promotion drive, they should have transfer flexibility in January.

For Leeds, I believe this year will be one of spending restraint, Maguire told Football Insider. “In the case of Leeds United, I’m startled by Angus Kinnear’s remarks since I would have assumed that players would also see huge pay cuts.

“However, it appears that the players have relocated, assuming that Leeds United’s replacements are of a caliber to compete in the championship. They should have some room to maneuver in January, which will provide them the leeway needed to make a sizable promotion charge for this season.

According to Alan Nixon’s Patreon page, England and Wales are competing for the commitment of Charlie Crew, a young player for Leeds United, to their respective junior teams. The midfield general for the Whites has already played for Wales at the junior and Under-21 levels, but England is trying to get him to the Three Lions.
