Djed Spence and Willy Gnonto of Leeds United have both received confirmation from Daniel Farke that their separate injury recoveries are proceeding as planned.

In his pre-match news conference before Leeds’ Wednesday encounter against Queens Park Rangers, Farke provided an update on every Leeds player who is currently out injured.

Spence and Gnonto are arguably Leeds’ most important absentees at the moment, though with the international break next week, that will provide them with more time to recover.

Spence suffered ligament damage in training ahead of Leeds’ win at Millwall in September during the previous international window

Gnonto, meanwhile, has undergone surgery in his ankle after he was forced off in the first half of Leeds’ 0-0 draw at Hull City.

Farke updates the situation with Spence and Gnonto.

Spence’s first recuperation period was scheduled at eight weeks, and he is now over halfway there. Gnonto is anticipated to return following the international break.

Farke provides an update on Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas before stating that both are “on track” in terms of their recuperation.

He said: “I would say with Willy Gnonto and Djed Spence everything is on track, they are recovering nicely but they won’t return before the international break. Junior Firpo will also be back in team training at the other side of the international break, no chance for him to comeback.

“Stuart Dallas has joined us in team training already, but in the last days he had to return to individual training but will be back training in the next days. A few weeks until he’s a topic for selections. All the others, a few little knocks after the last game but no new injuries so all of them are available.”

For Leeds, it is best if Gnonto and Spence are back in the lineup as soon as possible because both players will unquestionably be important contributors this year.

Spence’s injury set Leeds behind especially because he had only played for 10 minutes after joining from Tottenham Hotspur and because Farke continues to struggle at right-back.
