Ryan Poles isn’t afraid to make a move that will help his team, that much is true. Making transactions by the deadline is part of that. Last year, he produced three of them. In exchange for draft picks, Roquan Smith and Robert Quinn were traded to other teams, while Pittsburgh received Chase Claypool. It is evident that such exchanges had a variety of outcomes.
It probably didn’t, however, lessen the Chicago Bears general manager’s assertive attitude. If he wants to trade for a player that could be useful to the squad, he has a lot of draft capital available. Chase Young is one name that keeps coming up.
The Washington Commanders are in a tough spot. Their decision to pay Da’Ron Payne his new contract has made it obvious they won’t be able to keep both of their top defensive ends, Young and Montez Sweat. Rumors persist that one will get traded before the deadline while the other gets paid. Sweat is the more reliable option with a largely clean health history. Young is three years younger and more dynamic, but he also missed loads of time with a bad knee injury over the past two seasons.
League insider Jordan Schultz of The Score has it on good authority that one of them will be traded. He even included the probable price tag.
