Leicester played Bristol City away in their opener of the season, managing a 4-2 away win against the newly promoted team. Goals from Rantala (2), Peterman and Palmer settled the score.
On Sunday at home to Everton it was again a solid performance from the girls, as they won 1-0 with a goal from German forward Lena Petermann, recently joining from Montpellier. The 29 year old with 21 caps for her country looks to be a special and important player as Leicester looks for a chance to get out of a relegation struggle, certainly starting with a totally different situation than we have seen in the seasons since coming up to the best party.
Leicester defenders Courtney Nevin and Catherine Joan Bott are two that represented their nations Australia and New Zealand in the recent World Cup tournament, both back at the club after being on the field and representing their countries in the best way possible. The two arrived from club seasons in Scandinavia to Leicester during 22/23 and looks to have gained phenomenal experience as they will grow with the team going forward.
Liverpool sit second in the table to Leicester, both having won their opening games, but behind on goal difference when the two clubs meet this afternoon at The Pirelli Stadium in Burton.
We certainly hope Leicester can build on their experience, as this will be a special game for Liverpool attacker Natasha Flint, who previously played for Leicester during their promotion and first season in the Premier League, in between loan spells at Celtic.
