If rehab does not work, the injury expert believes that going under the needle may be the only option for the 24-year-old.
Daniel Farke stated before the Bristol City game before the international break that he hoped to have him back in a few weeks, but the club has yet to confirm this.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Shackleton:
“Based on reporting from the club, he will need further assessment as his pain level is still too high.
“This could potentially mean surgery depending on the injury specifics and that rehab isn’t helping.
“Should he require surgery, he’s likely going to be out for multiple weeks and it remains to be seen what takes place during the break.“
This season, Shackleton has made seven league appearances for the Whites and has been a crucial utility player for Farke.
Despite his background as a central midfielder, he has been used at right-back due to Djed Spence’s injury and Luke Ayling’s form.
It’s fair to say that the 24-year-old has performed admirably in that capacity, and all eyes will be on Farke’s injury update ahead of the Norwich City encounter on October 21.
