In a potential player trade, the Tigers may be about to land Storm center Justin Olam, who is currently out of favor.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the Storm would receive forward Shawn Blore in exchange for the Tigers receiving Olam.
If successful, this would mark the second player trade between the two teams in the past three years, following the loan of Storm hooker Harry Grant to the Tigers for the 2020 campaign in exchange for center Paul Momirovski.
The news of Olam being shipped around by Melbourne doesn’t come as much as a surprise, considering he was in-and-out of the first grade side and wasn’t selected in the Storm’s qualifying final against the Broncos.
Blore signed a one-year extension last month with the Tigers for 2024, but the club has also re-signed forwards Alex Twal and Alex Seyfarth, creating somewhat of a logjam and making Blore a little bit more expendable.
If a swap gets done, it shapes as being a deal which should be a win-win for both sides.
Blore would provide the Storm pack some much-needed depth, but a team like the Tigers could certainly use a player of Olam’s class and experience in their inexperienced backline.
