The remainder of the Championship has been forewarned by Jamie Vardy that Leicester City are “going to keep getting better and better” as the season goes on.

Vardy scored once as Leicester defeated Blackburn 4-1 on Sunday afternoon to win all three points at Ewood Park and increase their advantage at the top of the league standings.

Vardy discussed how Leicester has been performing under Maresca in an interview with Sky Sports following the game. Additionally, he sent a warning to the remainder of the Championship as City keep becoming better.

Vardy responded, “I think the main thing is, the gaffer has come in, he’s got his own way of playing and he’s got a plan and I think, we’re trying it,” when asked what makes the current Leicester team unique. Everyone has incorporated it, wants to learn more, and wants to do better.

He usually plays as a central defensive midfielder, although Wilf (Wilfred Ndidi) noted that he is currently playing as an offensive eight. Learning these new duties and the manager’s preferred style of play is a process, and as Wilf pointed out, as the season progresses, we’ll only keep getting better and better as we get acclimated to it.

Vardy continued, “I think it was massive, we’ve let ourselves down for their goal, but that’s the way the manager wants us to play, it’s risk and reward and sometimes we get done by a little sucker-punch,” in reference to the timing of his goal. I believe that after it, we were able to sustain our lead of 2-1 and weather the storm at the start of the second half.

As you can see by the way we play, it makes them work hard and likely wears them out in the end, which is why we scored two more goals.
