Neither materialised. The need for a left-back remains. Kai Wagner is now available on a free with The Athletic reporting that Leeds are interested – and talks of a new deal at Philadelphia Union have ended.
Wagner on a free would be perfect January signing for Leeds
Angus Kinnear recently said that there will be funds if injuries occur, for the January window. But, that the loan market will be utilised. Well, if there aren’t any injuries – a free transfer still saves Leeds cash.
Surely then, a move for assist machine Wagner – who is clearly well-liked at Leeds – would be the perfect January signing to solve the left-back issue? A player who has had a hand in 13 goals, in 2023.
Wagner would join a major club with Premier League ambitions, Leeds would gain a serious player on the left, and Kinnear’s tight control over money would be untouched. absolutely obvious.
