Pat McAfee and the Green Bay Packers have had an interesting working relationship in recent years. Thousands of Packers fans tuned in every week to hear the four-time MVP, Aaron Rodgers, have to say. Frequently, the discussions were jovial and enjoyable. But as soon as Rodgers announced that he was going to leave Green Bay, the atmosphere on The Pat McAfee Show appeared to shift.

Fans of the Packers have seemed to turn against McAfee in recent months. McAfee’s perception of the Packers appears to have changed at the same time. If it wasn’t clear before, McAfee’s naive remarks on his show this week made it clear.

There was a split in opinion regarding Aaron Rodgers’ trade offseason drama. Which team held the leverage, the Green Bay Packers or the New York Jets?

It was not unusual for McAfee to defend Rodgers, however, this time he also praised Jets general manager Joe Douglas.

“The Jets make use of their picks. The Jets are good drafters,” McAfee told NFL insider Ian Rapoport on the ‘Pat McAfee Show’ in March.

McAfee also had some harsh words for Packers GM Brian Gutekunst.

“Who’s the smart person?” said McAfee. “Oh, Gutekunst? We’re just automatically assuming he’s a smart person?”

He then doubled down after Rapoport defended Gutekunst.

“Oh yeah, there have never been sh-tty f–king general managers,” said McAfee.

Gutekunst is looking pretty sharp at the moment. Jordan Love’s three-year development is paying off thanks to the decision to draft him and allow him to develop. During the past four weeks, Love has thrown for 1,107 yards, eight touchdowns, and two interceptions. He has shown the potential to be a franchise quarterback.
