On Sunday, Kyler Murray’s homecoming will not be the only sight in the desert.
According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Arizona Cardinals have activated running back James Conner (knee) from injured reserve ahead of their Week 10 game against the Atlanta Falcons. The announcement has since been made by the team.
Conner will play on Sunday after missing the previous four games, according to Rapoport.
Despite his previous absence, Conner continues to lead the club in rushing midway through the 2023 season. The 28-year-old has 364 yards on the ground in five games, averaging 5.4 yards per run and scoring two touchdowns.
Conner was vital in Arizona’s lone victory of the season, rushing the Dallas Cowboys for 116 yards and scoring the game’s first touchdown on a five-yard run. His punishing rushing style fueled a tough Cardinals squad in the early going, but Arizona has struggled to find any traction since he suffered a knee injury in Week 5.
Last week, the Cardinals were shut out by the Cleveland Browns.
With the return of Conner and Murray this Sunday, the offense’s difficulties should improve. Arizona has waited 11 months for the return of their franchise quarterback, and Conner will be right by Murray’s side.
