The Dodgers can use all the help they can get in the rotation.
It’s obvious that the Dodgers need to improve their starting pitching going into the offseason. They make sure they don’t have the same problems as last season because they are likely to pursue this actively in both the free agency and trade markets.
The team has been linked with all sorts of players already this offseason, but there is one intriguing name that could be available on the Toronto Blue Jays. Right-handed pitcher Alek Manoah may be available according to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, and the Dodgers should look into him as a flier.
If Manoah is available, it likely wouldn’t cost much to land him. He was terrible in 2023 but could be seen as a bounce-back candidate for next season. The Dodgers love to take on pitchers like Manoah, and he is still only 25 years old with more room to grow.
He is under team control through 2028, so he might be a low-risk, high-reward deal for LA. This may be the reason the Blue Jays hold onto him for the upcoming offseason to evaluate his performance, but if he becomes available, the Dodgers ought to be all over a possible deal.
