The probable seriousness of Micky van de Ven’s hamstring injury is starting to worry Tottenham Hotspur’s medical team.
The Tottenham medical staff is reportedly concerned that van van Ven’s injury may keep him out of action for months rather than weeks, according to a report by the Mail Online.
There are worries that the hamstring tear may be more severe than a grade two, meaning the defender will miss the rest of the year and may even require surgery.
Therefore, the results of van de Ven’s scan really can’t come soon enough for Ange Postecoglou and his team.
Although it’s a massive blow, the management team will now need to plan for a period without their pacey defender.
Cristian Romero will of course be missing for three games as well owing to suspension.
And despite his poor decision-making, Postecoglou was quick to defend Romero after the game.
In a strange turn of events, Eric Dier will now be a leader of the back line he was deemed surplus to requirements for.
And it seems that Ashley Phillips may be the favourite to join him there.
Dejan Kulusevski has now shared his confidence that Phillips is ready for the step up.

Of course, Tottenham will also be without Destiny Udogie for a game as well following his second yellow card.
And given van de Ven’s injury, Postecoglou will now need to lean on his Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
As well as his obvious shot-stopping ability, Postecoglou will now also need Vicario to take a leadership role.
On the field, the Italian has appeared to be quite talkative, especially against Chelsea.
Additionally, a number of Spurs players will now have the chance to establish their value to this team.
It will be fascinating to observe whether Tottenham’s ambitions to acquire a defender in January are suddenly expedited by van de Ven’s problem.
It doesn’t seem like a smart decision to let go of Eric Dier right now, but strengthening the team’s roster might be essential right now.
