With the pledge of America’s top-rated junior college wide receiver on Monday, Ole Miss may have caught the largest fish in the pond. Deion Smith made his public commitment to Ole Miss just one day after his official visit to Oxford.

Smith is a four-star prospect who is rated as the nation’s top JUCO wide receiver and the top player in Mississippi’s junior college league. He is eligible for two years at Ole Miss.

“I just felt like it as time to do it,” Smith told Inside the Rebels on Monday. “It was time to close the deal. I’m very comfortable, a hundred percent.”

Harrell game planning with Bulldog coaches to recruit more players to State

North Panola High School (MS) All-State selection JJ Harrell had the chance to host some of his future college coaches this evening at his home in Sardis, Mississippi. Harrell surprised many when he made an early commitment to the Bulldogs. Despite a coaching change, Harrell has remained True Maroon throughout the recruiting process. This evening, he had the chance to huddle with new head coach Jeff Lebby about closing out the recruiting class with some flare.

“It was great man,” Harrell shared. “We were discussing some guys we must have. Coach was telling me that I have a big year ahead of me. It was truly a great visit. I am excited for what’s to come. It was all crazy. He came up from Starkville to come and see me.

“Coach Lebby said that I’m a playmaker and that he is going to put the ball in my hands. He broke it down to me that I am a phenomenal player and that I am going to have a big career at Mississippi State. Coach said he is going to put the ball in my hands every chance he gets and that he’s going to space me out, so I can make plays.”
