After San Diego State offensive tackle Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson committed to the Gators on Sunday afternoon, the Florida Gators received their first transfer portal commitment of the offseason.
On social media, Crenshaw-Dickson declared his support for the Gators after making his formal visit to Gainesville this past weekend.
Crenshaw-Dickson remarked, “It was an amazing visit; the facilities are nothing that I’ve seen before.” “I am truly grateful to the coaches for providing me with the chance to demonstrate my skills on camera.”
The staff felt like family for the 6-6, 310-pound tackle, which was a major factor in his recruitment.
“To come out and have a family staff, that’s what I feel like the coaches are, so I feel like that was big for me to make my decision today,” Crenshaw-Dickson said. “That was one thing that I was looking for when entering the portal, somewhere I could go and fill that family atmosphere, and also have the coaches that are able to get me to the next level.”
Offensive line coach Rob Sale played a major role in Crenshaw-Dickson’s recruitment after he entered the portal on November 29th.
“Coach Sale was in my ear as much as he could, getting information from me and from my end letting them know I would love to be a Gator.”
Crenshaw-Dickson was hosted by Gators’ offensive linemen Jake Slaughter and Austin Barber.
“Florida is a great place to be, football team is nice, weather is good down here too,” Crenshaw-Dickson said on their message to him. “Just the atmosphere of the fans and the stadium, it’s money.”
Playing college football in the SEC is something that played a factor in Crenshaw-Dickson’s recruitment as well.
“SEC football is big, it’s the best college football that you can play, at least getting you to that next level. Being able to come in and play my one year and get drafted potentially after this season is something big that they all brought to my attention,” Crenshaw Dickson said on playing football in the SEC. “SEC football is the best football in college. Being able to play there and showcase my talent against guys who would potentially be draft picks is something that I want to take advantage of.”
Crenshaw-Dickson will enter his 6th and final year of college football in 2024. The senior logged 2,410 snaps across 36 career starts at San Diego State, playing both left and right tackle with the Aztecs. Crenshaw-Dickson posted a pass block grade of 80.0 in 2023, which ranked T-34th amongst FBS tackles last season.
Crenshaw-Dickson plans to be in Gainesville on January 7th.
