Through December, Ole Miss will be keeping a close eye on the wide receivers that enter the transfer portal. We still don’t know whether Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins, or Dayton Wade will return for another season. However, it appears that Zakhari Franklin will not be returning to the team next season.
Harris, Watkins and Wade all had over 700 receiving yards this season and could be back. However, it won’t stop Lane Kiffin from looking to strengthen the receiver room.
Kiffin has already sent his first offer to a wide receiver in Ja’Mori Maclin. The North Texas transfer has also received offers from 11 other teams, including LSU, Texas A&M and Colorado.
Ja’Mori Maclin, a 2020 recruit, transferred to the Green Machine from Missouri at the end of the 2021 season. In his first season with North Texas, Maclin had 16 catches for 380 yards and two TDs. In his second season, his production soared, with 57 catches for 1,004 yards and 11 TDs.
The 5-foot-11 receiver led the team in receiving yards and touchdowns this season.
Maclin still has two years of eligibility left, with him redshirting the first season in Missouri and then failing to make the field in his second season due to injury.
Kiffin faces significant competition in his pursuit of Ja’Mori Maclin. However, his track record with wide receivers from the transfer portal appears to be promising.
Despite missing three games, Tre Harris led the club in receiving yards as a transfer from a Group of Five conference team.
There will be plenty of other receivers to consider, but Ja’Mori Maclin would be an excellent addition to the roster.
