On Wednesday, the Ole Miss Rebels received the NLI from Destrehan (La.) High School safety Anthony Robinson, formally adding him to this year’s recruiting class.
According to On3, Robinson is a three-star prospect who chose the Rebels over offers from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Tulane Green Wave, Miami Hurricanes, and Missouri Tigers.
Robinson pulled the trigger on his commitment on June 25 of this year, and according to the On3 database, he is listed as the No. 51 safety nationally and No. 12 player overall in the state of Louisiana. Nationally, he comes in as the No. 508 player overall.
According to his high school’s roster, Robinson suited up on both sides of the ball during his prep days, playing wide receiver and free safety. He led his Destrehan Wildcats to an 11-1 overall record, seeing their first loss come in the postseason on Nov. 24 of this year.
The defensive back will join what should be a revitalized Ole Miss defense in 2024 that has been shaped by the transfer portal in recent weeks. The Rebels have secured numerous names from Power Five programs on the defensive side of the ball out of the portal, including some of the top players available in this cycle.
