On an episode of the 247Sports Recruiting podcast this week, 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins and Cooper Petagna discussed biggest risers from the All-American Bowl and provided insight into a week of practices in San Antonio.
Petagna coined Moore, who enrolls at Clemson in June, as his “biggest riser” from the week.
“You know we are going to talk about (Moore) anytime we talk about the All-American week,” Petagna said. “He checked in a little bit taller and a little bit bigger than we expected at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds. That was our first indication like OK, maybe this guy has more to him than we thought. Then we get out onto the practice field and you see a lot of highlights. He makes the difficult look rather routine. And pretty effortless as well. I loved everything about him. I thought he had the most complete week of any prospect in attendance. He followed that up by going 166 yards receiving in the game, plus two touchdowns. If you flip the script and the East beats the West, I think it’s Moore coming home with MVP honors of the game. And in a year absolutely loaded with receivers, Moore made a statement that he’s one of the best in the country.”
“Re-watched his senior tape, and I think the best thing about Moore is how he tracks the ball,” Ivins added. “He can gear up or gear down. He’s someone that didn’t have a ton of verified data coming into this all-star setting. We knew he was a a 6-foot-3, high-jumper and 11.13 in the 100, but man the tape speaks for itself. Averaged over 24 yards per catch as a senior at Tampa Catholic. We keep saying it, these young wide receivers at Clemson are going to have to play. I think Moore can make a splash right away in the ACC. Bryant Wesco, a current five-star for 247Sports, is headed to Clemson. It was just interesting to see Wesco in Orlando (at Armour All-American) and then you show up in San Antonio and see TJ Moore. Kind of gets you recalibrating how maybe you would stack those two. Both really talented prospects. I thought it was a money-making week for Moore. And his camp has let us know that– they are all up in our social media platforms asking about a potential fifth star.
