, a more than 30-year coaching veteran, joins from Auburn, where he served as defensive coordinator last season. During his lone season, the Tigers’ defense improved and finished first in the country and SEC in several categories.

 

 

Roberts led Auburn to the top 50 in scoring defense, sacks, tackles for loss, and overall defense. The Tigers also finished in the top 25 in third-down defense and first-downs allowed, while ranking first in the SEC in red zone defense. Auburn ranked second in the conference for third-down defense, third in pass defense, and fourth in interceptions.

According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), Roberts’ defense ranks the Tigers in the top 25 in pass coverage (17th), overall defense (18th), rushing defense (19th), and tackling (24th).
