Interim G.M. Champ Kelly was a candidate for the permanent role, but former Chargers General Manager Tom Telesco was appointed this week. When Telesco was leading the Chargers’ personnel department, Raiders owner Mark Davis stated he “always felt that the Chargers had a scary type of roster” and that Telesco’s experience provided the kind of balance he wanted with a first-time head coach.
“He has experience, which was really necessary at this point. “That was enormous,” Davis told Vic Tafur of TheAthletic.com.
