‘The Boston Celtics announced today that Head Coach Ime Udoka has been suspended for the 2022-23 season for infractions of team policies,’ stated the statement.

‘A decision on his future with the Celtics beyond this season will be made at a later point,’ the team said. The suspension is immediately effective.’

According to The Athletic, some Celtics players heard of Udoka’s relationship in July.

Both parties persuaded those sources to assume that the relationship was mutual. According to The Athletic, Udoka recently made inappropriate statements to the woman, prompting the team to conduct internal interviews.

The ban was determined after a lengthy closed-door meeting with owners and club president Brad Stevens. According to the article, Stevens and other team executives also met with players at the team facilities.

In a statement posted Thursday night, Udoka apologized to the players, supporters, and team for “putting the team in a difficult situation.”

‘I would want to apologize to our players, fans, the whole Celtics organization, and my family for disappointing them,’ Udoka said in a statement. ‘I sincerely apologize for placing the team in this tough situation, and I respect the team’s decision. I won’t say anything else out of respect for everyone involved.’

For the rest of the season, assistant coach Joe Mazzulla will serve as temporary head coach.

According to reports last night, Udoka would face a’significant suspension’ for an unspecified infringement of team policy. Rumors spread that it was because of a relationship with a Celtics staff member.

Udoka has been engaged to actress Nia Long for several years, and the couple’s kid was born in 2011. Long and Udoka, on the other hand, were ‘believed to have been separated previous to the present situation,’ according to Bally Sports’ Brandon Robinson.
