Three players out, three questionable for Sunday.
The Detroit Lions have ruled out three players for their game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Wide receiver Jameson Williams, defender James Houston, and tight end Brock Wright are all out for the regular-season finale in Week 18. C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Alim McNeill, and Benito Jones have all been deemed ineligible.
Houston is in the first full week of his evaluation clock. He returned to practice last week after being on injured reserve since Week 2.
Ahead of the Lions’ regular season finale, coach Dan Campbell said that Houston had not shown that he is healthy enough to contribute against the Vikings.
“No. Like, right now? No. But like I said, he’s better than he was last week. So we’ll see where he goes next week,” Campbell explained. “None of this, from what I’ve just seen, I’m not surprised by any of it. I expected what I saw. That’s just the way it is when it’s been a while and you’re coming off the injury he’s coming off of. It’s gonna take a minute to feel good about it. And then, okay, now I feel good about it, now that I feel good about it how do I win and produce with it? It’s one thing to just go, okay, I can go out there and run around, but if you can’t produce, that doesn’t help him or us.”
Meanwhile, an illness has made its way through the Lions’ locker room. Williams was listed on the injury report with an illness in addition to his ankle injury, while Jones is also sick.
