Perhaps the best wide receiver in the NFL, Justin Jefferson is expected to make a significant demand of the Minnesota Vikings that could influence his contract negotiations. Jefferson is expected to become the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL, but he won’t sign a new contract with them unless they have a plan at quarterback.
With over 1,000 yards in every season of play, the 25-year-old has proven he’s a once-in-a-generation star. Last year, he played in just 10 games. The Vikings are obviously eager to sign him to a significant agreement since he’s been the best receiver they’ve had since Randy Moss left 20 years ago.
There’s a caveat, though: Jefferson won’t join unless the team has a quarterbacking strategy in place. According to NFL Network, Jefferson wants the organisation to sign him to an extension before he commits to the franchise in the long run, given the speculations that Kirk Cousins is departing.
Jefferson has consistently supported Cousins, who has demonstrated remarkable performance in the last three seasons. After playing under a $35 million, one-year contract last year, Cousins is expected to become a free agency.
Cousins had a great start to 2023 before an injury halted his year. The Vikings appear to be searching for a new quarterback to lead the team for the long run.

Although there have been rumours that Cousins would sign with the New England Patriots or the Atlanta Falcons, it appears that he would want to remain with the Vikings. He also hinted that he could accept less cash to stay.
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, general manager of the Vikings, has previously expressed his desire for Cousins to remain. They may have to fight to keep him if they don’t sign him before other teams have a chance to speak with him.
What transpires with Cousins may also be influenced by Jefferson’s wishes. Before he commits to a long-term stay, he wants his cousins to be on the team.
