NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported that New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was suspended by the NFL for the first three games of the 2023 regular season on Friday for breaking the league’s personal conduct policy.
Chris Lammons, a cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts, was also given a three-game suspension for his involvement in the incident, the organisation stated on Friday.
The infractions are related to Kamara’s battery arrest in February 2022 in Las Vegas, which was settled on July 11 when he entered a plea of not guilty to a misdemeanour charge of breach of peace.
In addition to being forced to perform 30 hours of community service, Kamara was also ordered to reimburse victim Darrell Greene for overdue medical bills in the amount of $105,196.17. Kamara also received a $500 fine. By entering a plea, Kamara was able to avoid a possible five-year maximum sentence for criminal violence.
The 27-year-old Kamara is qualified to make a comeback for the Saints when they play the Tampa Bay Bucs in Week 4. He is unable to attend the Titans, Panthers, and Packers games.
This week in New York, Kamara had a meeting with Commissioner Roger Goodell to talk about the circumstances surrounding the event.

“I never want to be a part of something that results in someone being harmed, seriously injured, or anything else. I made a poor decision. Undoubtedly a poor choice,” Kamara remarked before learning of his ban. “I made a huge mistake. I made my mother, my family, and the Saints look bad. I was humiliated, the city was embarrassed, and the NFL was plainly embarrassed by the shield.”
On March 2, Kamara entered a not guilty plea to the initial accusations of misdemeanour battery conspiracy and felony battery resulting in serious bodily damage.
Charges were brought against Kamara and three other individuals, including Lammons♿, for allegedly punching and kicking Greene outside a nightclub in Las Vegas throughout the weekend of the 2022 Pro Bowl. Kamara participated in the February Pro Bowl.
The police report states that security footage supported Greene’s claims to the police that he was kicked by many persons and punched by Lammons.
According to the police report, Greene’s right eye sustained an orbital fracture. His civil complaint, which was settled in private, was filed for $10 million.
Kamara, who won offensive rookie of the year in 2017 and was selected to the Pro Bowl five times, is starting his sixth NFL season. Throughout his career, he has accrued 8,888 scrimmage yards, 72 all-purpose touchdowns, and 5,135 rushing yards.
The Saints’ running back room won’t be empty in Kamara’s absence since free-agent acquisition Jamaal Williams♿, who led the NFL with 17 rushing touchdowns the previous season, is expected to take the lead. Kendre Miller was also selected by New Orleans in the third round.
