Billy Napier’s Florida Gators football program is still aggressively recruiting for the 2025 season.
Their most recent target is Dane Jones, a three-star wide receiver from Ridge Point High School in Pearland, Texas. Jones made his presence felt in Gainesville during the current contact period, making his third trip to the Swamp during his recruitment process.
Jones, who is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 174 pounds, has established himself as a viable pass receiver. He had great figures during the previous fall season, with 50 receptions for 825 yards and 13 touchdowns.
His visit to the University of Florida campus gave him a favorable view of the Orange and Blue program.
“The appointment went well. I was able to create relationships with the coaches and see them more frequently. I viewed the facilities a few months ago. This time, I got to tour the entire campus, including the buildings. It is a wonderful campus. It’s huge.”
Although Jones earned an offer from the Gators last year, there have been some personnel changes at Florida. Despite this, the high school junior maintains close ties with the coaching staff, demonstrating the program’s capacity to cultivate relationships with recruits.
Jones is now ranked No. 471 overall and No. 64 in his position, according to the 247Sports composite. On3, an industry ranking platform, he ranks slightly higher at 463 overall and 71 in his position.
When it comes to guessing Jones’ eventual destination, the Southern Methodist Mustangs now lead the way in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, with a 37.5% likelihood of signing him.
The Baylor Bears are close behind at 22.2%, followed by Florida at 19.1% and TCU at 8.3%. The rivalry for this potential wide receiver is heating up, and his decision will undoubtedly be widely scrutinized over the next few months.
