SO SHOCKING: Special teams coach of the Minnesota Vikings is suspended due to anti-gay….
The Vikings have suspended special teams coach Mike Priefer of Minnesota for three games in response to an inquiry into claims that he made homophobic statements made by former punter Chris Kluwe.
The Vikings hired an independent inquiry to investigate into the charges made by the former player, and the study concluded that Priefer had made a “single homophobic statement to Kluwe.”
In a statement made public by the Vikings on Friday, Priefer expressed regret. If he shows up for anti-harassment, diversity, and sensitivity training, his ban could be shortened to only two games. The group also declared that it will provide $100,000 to organisations that support lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights.
In January, Kluwe claimed in a column on Deadspin.com that following the viral success of a letter he had written in favour of same-sex marriage, Vikings Coach Leslie Frazier had tried to persuade him to retract his support, and that Priefer, his boss, had started disparaging him for his beliefs and using homophobic language.

Kluwe also stated that his contract was terminated after the following because of his agitation in favour of homosexual marriage, not because of his performance.
The inquiry did note that Kluwe’s teammates and coaches were worried about the “distraction” his actions were causing, but it did not find enough proof that Vikings management had attempted to dissuade him from voicing his opinions.
