The Green Bay Packers terminated the Dallas Cowboys’ season early this year in the Wild Card round. Green Bay became the first seven seed to overcome a two seed in the playoffs, and they did so convincingly.

The Packers could be in line to sign a Cowboys star for the 2024 season.

The Green Bay Packers Could Be In line To Sign Dallas Cowboys Running Back

Sayre Bedinger of Lombardi Ave. emphasized how the Packers should improve their running back room:

Again, you don’t always want to enter the running back position in NFL free agency, but given the depth of this year’s class as a whole, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Packers (and other teams) pursue some proven players here on short-term contracts.

Consider a running back tandem of Aaron Jones and Tony Pollard for Jordan Love to rely on.

This previous season, we noticed that Tony Pollard performs worse when he is not in a tandem backfield, thus sharing the backfield with someone like Aaron Jones should benefit everyone. Pollard’s three-down ability and explosiveness when he’s fully healthy make him an interesting target, and he might be grabbed for a discount price since he was coming

The Packers Will Have A New Rushing Attack In 2024

Nearly the entire Packers fanbase is hoping Aaron Jones returns in 2024. He is not just one of the team’s most popular players, but his presence improves the offensive game substantially.

However, the organization may move on from AJ Dillon because he has yet to shown his potential as a legitimate #1 running back. Adding Pollard, who is only 26 years old, would not only bring another dynamic out of the backfield, but would also increase the position’s durability.

Pollard’s 2023 season stats appear to be acceptable, with 1,005 yards rushing and 311 yards receiving. This season, however, his efficiency has dropped significantly from 2022. In 2023, he gained an average of four yards on carries, down from 5.2 in 2022, while his average receiving yardage fell from 9.5 to 5.7.

Pollard might still be highly successful in a tandem style backfield.
