Former Georgia Star D’Andre Swift Preparing for Free Agency
We’re a week away from free agency in the NFL and this should be a loaded group. Teams can begin negotiations with free agents on Monday, March 11th, and players can officially sign with teams beginning on Wednesday, March 13th.
Of all the positions in this year’s crop of free agents, none is deeper than the running back group. Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, and Saquan Barkley will all be looking for new homes. Also hitting the market will be former Georgia running back D’Andre Swift, who is nearing the end of his rookie contract.
Swift initially signed the four-year deal in Detroit as a rookie in 2020 but was traded to Philadelphia before this past season. He had a career year with the Eagles, compiling 1,263 yards on 268 touches and earning his first Pro Bowl selection.
Most signs point towards Swift returning to the Eagles on a new deal, but the former All-SEC back will have plenty of suitors regardless.
During his time at Georgia, Swift was part of some of the best running back rooms in school history. He teamed with Nick Chubb and Sony Michel to lead Georgia to the school’s first College Football Playoff berth as a freshman. His incredible stop-and-start abilities made him a fan favorite in Athens and a headache for opposing defensive coordinators.
