The Detroit Lions are in a strong position to repeat as a top five offensive in terms of scoring and yardage in 2024. However, the Lions could benefit from adding another wide receiver, like as Los Angeles Rams wideout Tutu Atwell.
According to Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton, the Lions should consider trading Atwell for a late-round draft pick. Moton said Detroit had a “moderate need” at wide receiver.
“At 5’9″, 165 pounds, the 24-year-old isn’t going to win many jump ball opportunities or routinely come down with contested catches,” Moton said of Atwell. “On the flip side, he can make big plays with his speed, which may open up the field for other Lions pass-catchers.”
Moton did not suggest a specific selection pick that the Lions should offer for Atwell. But Detroit has four Day 3 picks, which gives them some alternatives. Two of these picks are in the sixth round.
With those picks, the Lions could potentially acquire Atwell in a late-Day 3 pick exchange.
In 16 games with the Rams last season, Atwell caught 39 passes for 483 yards and three touchdowns. He has an average of 13.7 yards per reception over his career.
Moton proposed Atwell as a trade asset for the Rams, who re-signed wide receiver Demarcus Robinson this offseason.

If Atwell is available, he may be a target for the Detroit Lions, who could need more receiving depth. On March 27, veteran Josh Reynolds decided to depart the Lions and accept a two-year contract with the Denver Broncos.
Reynolds was second among Lions wideouts in major receiving statistics last season.
The Lions have bigger expectations for third-year wide receiver Jameson Williams in 2024. On March 16, they re-signed veteran Donovan Peoples-Jones to a one-year contract for up to $2 million.
However, with Atwell on the roster, there will be less pressure on Williams or Peoples-Jones to quickly take over as the No. 2 wideout opposite Amon-Ra St. Brown.
