Kevin Dotson, the Los Angeles Rams’ right guard, has agreed to a three-year contract extension, the organization announced on Thursday.
Dotson’s contract is expected to be around $48 million. He established himself as one of the NFL’s top guards and a cornerstone of the Rams’ offensive line after being acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers during training camp last season.
Dotson, who was originally picked in the fourth round by the Steelers out of Louisiana in 2022, received high marks from Pro Football Focus and other analysts as one of the league’s top interior offensive lineman during his inaugural season with the Rams.
Dotson, along with rookie left guard Steve Avila, contributed significantly to the Rams’ offense, which improved from 25th to 11th in the NFL in rushing yards while allowing only 2.0 sacks per game to quarterback Matthew Stafford, a significant decrease from the 3.2 sacks per game he faced in 2022.
Known for his run-blocking abilities, Dotson also demonstrated discipline, committing only two penalties for the Rams, who concluded the season with a 10-7 record and a playoff appearance following a difficult 5-12 campaign the previous year.
The Rams got Dotson at a low cost, giving two Day 3 selection picks to Pittsburgh for his services, as well as two extra Day 3 draft picks. Although Dotson predominantly played left guard for the Steelers, the organization decided to give Isaac Seumalo the starting job.
Dotson, along with safety Jordan Fuller, was one of the Rams’ major unrestricted free agents this offseason.
