TRADE RUMOR: 3 Detroit Lions “TREATING” to leave,if nothing is done….

General manager Brad Holmes has made it apparent how the Detroit Lions will handle free agency. He simply   stated, “Everyone can’t play here.” Evaluating prospective fits based on need, skill set, and talent is a necessary prerequisite. The Lions seek players that match their culture, just as much as they want to add depth to a position.

As March comes to a close and the dust settles on the most significant aspect of free agency, it is safe to conclude that they have accomplished that. Every outside move, including a big trade, brought in someone who not only addressed a need but also appeared to bring the intangible attributes the Lions want. In reference to guard Kevin Zeitler, go no farther than the leaked video showing him performing

It would have been good to see the Lions make a big play to get a top-tier cornerback or edge rusher in free agency. However, it was always doubtful because the entire price point would be prohibitively expensive (for example, L’Jarius Sneed).

Often, the clubs that spend the most in March do not perform well in the following season(s). The Lions’ strategy is plainly working (draft, develop, reward your own first, etc.), thus there is no need for major changes.

On that front, the Lions appear to have made a sensible decision by not signing these three free agents this year.
