Spring practice rages around the country. Team insiders provide updates on college football’s top transfer portal quarterbacks. The report reveals which portal passers, such as Florida State’s DJ Uiagalelei, have lived up to expectations this offseason, as well as a handful who have underperformed, such as Ohio State’s Will Howard.

Julian Sayin (Ohio State), Aidan Chiles (Michigan State), and Dante Moore (Oregon) are among the top ten quarterbacks on the College Football Transfer Portal for 2024. The Buckeyes and Ducks both signed seasoned signal callers through the portal, leaving Chiles as the only top-three quarterback with a chance to start in 2024. However, sources suggest that Sayin and Moore have done well in camp, giving their teams confidence in the position for 2025 and later.

Team insiders provided quarterback updates at Duke, Kentucky, and Miami. Former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniel became the second-straight transfer to win the Heisman Trophy, and some of the names on this list have a chance to win college football’s most prestigious individual award this season.

Transfer Portal Rating: No. 9 OVR | No. 3 QB

The former five-star recruit expects to backup Dillon Gabriel in 2024 and develop into a starting option for 2-25. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound passer played in nine games this last season at UCLA, completing 53.5% of his passes for 1,610 yards and 11 touchdowns with nine interceptions. He’s off to a strong spring, according to team sources.

Transfer Portal Rating: No. 7 OVR | No. 2 QB

Chiles, a former top 60 prospect, played well in limited action at Oregon State last season, completing 68.6% of his passes for 309 yards and four touchdowns with zero interceptions. He’s the face of Jonathan Smith’s rebuild and is in contention to start this season.

“Because Oregon State’s system relied heavily on play-action and bootlegs, Chiles’ ability to either stretch plays or deviate from the script and make something happen should be a natural fit, as evidenced by his extended appearances last season.
