Knox Kiffin showed up and threw the football with the Mojo 7v7 squad on Saturday in Tupelo. He was excellent. And on Monday, Kiffin received his first college football offer.

Kiffin, the son of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, was granted a full scholarship by Division II Mississippi College as a highly talented member of the class of 2028. That’s correct; Kiffin is still in middle school.

Mississippi College’s head coach, Mike Kershaw, made the offer. Kershaw, a former Delta State quarterback, formerly served as Rice’s wide receivers coach.

We saw Kiffin deliver terrific passes all day Saturday, dissecting defenses and finding open receivers. We relayed what we witnessed on Sunday. But we asked former Mississippi State wide receiver Cam Floyd, who coaches the Mojo, provide his opinion on Knox Kiffin.

“I tell you what, I’ve been on the seven-on-seven circuit for a few years…I started with 12U and am now on 14U, and by far, he has the finest arm I’ve seen in this circuit. We’ve played teams from Louisiana, Texas, and Florida…”I’m very impressed with his arm strength,” Floyd stated.

“Usually, as offensive coordinator, I have to sort of coach the kids on where to throw the ball.” Today, I showed him the play, and he dissected it for himself. You don’t receive that much at 14 years old. He is wise beyond his years. “You can tell his father is a coach.”

As for that arm strength?

“We’re probably in about 10 to 15 miles per hour wind, and he’s throwing dots at 30-40 yards. Easy. With a high school ball, not a middle school ball…with a high school ball,” Floyd related.

And his touch?

“Impeccable touch. Sometimes it’s hard to have that big arm, but can you throw the little short routes? We had a couple of routes today where I was very impressed to see the touch on the ball and where he threw it,” Floyd continued.

Knox is still in middle school but he is on track to play his prep football at Palos Verdes (Calif.) High School. He plans to be back in Mississippi on Wed., June 5, for the Mississippi College MegaCamp.
