The Texas Rangers expect All-Star third baseman Josh Jung to miss eight to 10 weeks following surgery on his fractured right wrist.
The Dallas Morning News reported Wednesday that the repairs were “a little bit more involved than appeared” on the initial X-rays.
Jung, 26, was hit by a pitch during Monday’s 9-3 away victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. He was added to the 10-day injury list on Tuesday.
He was an All-Star and placed fourth in the American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2023, despite missing 40 games, the most of which were due to a fractured thumb. In 122 games, he batted.266/.315/.467, with 23 home runs, 70 RBIs, and 75 runs scored.
Jung also batted.308 with three home runs, eight RBIs, and 13 runs in 17 playoff games as the Rangers won their first World Series.
