Kalen DeBoer has added Lotzeir Brooks, a wide receiver from New Jersey, to his 2025 signing class. Brooks is currently a three-star wide receiver, ranked 66th in the class and 437th nationally. He chose Alabama over Tennessee, Kentucky, and other colleges.
While his ranks aren’t particularly impressive, Brooks’ sprint speed of 22.1 MPH is. In three seasons of high school football, Brooks has 3,355 receiving yards and 55 touchdowns.
The 5’10 Wide receiver will provide a deep threat from the minute he steps on campus. The area Kalen DeBoer and JaMarcus Shephard will be most excited about is his ability after the catch. His speed makes him dangerous in the open field.
Brooks becomes the ninth athlete to pledge to Kalen DeBoer, joining Alabama’s eighth-ranked recruiting class, according to 247Sports. He will join Alabama wide receiver Derick Smith as the second receiver to commit to the class. The Tide are still in the mix for several top receivers, including five-star Caleb Cunningham and four-star Quanell Farrakhan Jr., who has committed to Alabama.
When looking at the rankings it’s important to remember that a lot will change before they are final and that JaMarcus Shephard values this receiver higher than a recruiting site. JaMarcus Shephard has sent three-star and two-star receivers to the NFL in the past and will continue to do so.
Country wide recruiting for Kalen DeBoer
Early on Kalen DeBoer has been recruiting from areas not typical for Alabama Football recruiting prospects. This class has commits from New Jersey and Maryland while pursuing players from the Northeast and Mid-West as well. This is likely due to a built-out recruiting class headed by Courtney Morgan who’s known for finding hidden gems. It’ll be interesting to see how these players pan out in Tuscaloosa.
