Cameron Sutton surrendered to authorities on Sunday night, more than three weeks after an alleged domestic violence incident, 11 days after the Hillsborough County (FL) Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for his arrest, and ten days after the Detroit Lions discharged him.

Sutton is charged with domestic abuse by strangulation, which is a felony punishable by up to five years in jail.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement:

Cameron Sutton, 29, was arrested by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office after being wanted for domestic battery by strangulation.

On Monday, March 25, 2024, Sutton’s attorney notified HCSO’s warrant division that he was traveling to Tampa to surrender himself to authorities.

Sutton arrived at the Orient Road Jail today, March 31, 2024, at 8:24 p.m., to turn himself in.

“After weeks of evading law enforcement, this man has finally made the right choice to turn himself in,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Domestic abuse is not tolerated in our community, and no one is above the law in Hillsborough County. My sympathies are with this woman as she recovers from this man’s horrific crimes.”

Hillsborough County tweeted a video of Sutton being brought into custody.
