The NFL has reinstated five players, including four former Detroit Lions, from extended sanctions for violating the league’s gambling policy last year, according to several sources.

The league has removed the bans on wide receiver Quintez Cephus, safety C.J. Moore, defensive end Rashod Berry, defensive lineman Demetrius Taylor, and defensive end Shaka Toney.

Cephus and Moore were among five players suspended in April, including Lions receiver Jameson Williams. The latter received a milder six-game suspension, which was later lowered to four games since he bet on a sport other than the NFL.

Both Cephus and Moore were released shortly after their suspensions were announced. Moore, the Lions’ longstanding special teams ace, re-signed with the team as a free agent a month ago.

Taylor’s suspension was revealed in late June. The previous undrafted free agent had already been released by the team a month before.

With their suspensions lifted, restored athletes can sign with new organizations right away.
