Sean Couturier, the Philadelphia Flyers’ captain, will miss at least the first two games of the team’s four-game road trip due to an upper-body injury.

Couturier, who was listed as day-to-day, will miss the games against the Buffalo Sabres on Friday and the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.

The Flyers (36-29-11, 83 points) have lost five straight games and are one point ahead of fourth-place Washington (36-28-10, 82 points) in the Metropolitan Division heading into Thursday’s game. On Thursday night, the Capitals will host the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Couturier, 31, has 36 points (11 goals, 25 assists) through 70 games this season. He missed two games last month due to a healthy scratch.

Couturier, the 2019-20 Selke Trophy winner for the NHL’s greatest defensive forward, has 496 points (191 goals, 305 assists) in 791 career games with the Flyers. Philadelphia took him with the eighth overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft.
