The Alabama football team has received its first commitment for the 2026 recruiting class. Kalen DeBoer and his crew have signed four-star defensive back Jamarrion Gordon, a recruit from Alabama. Gordon is the 18th-ranked cornerback in the recruiting class, 10th in Alabama, and 214th overall. Gordon picked Alabama over many SEC schools, including LSU, Georgia, and Tennessee, despite being offered 20 scholarships.
The Crimson Tide once held a commitment from guard Zykie Helton but, Gordon now becomes the first commitment in what will be Kalen DeBoer’s first true recruiting class without Nick Saban’s help. Playing a massive role in landing Jamarrion Gordon was new defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist, one of the more underrated recruiters in the country.
While the 2026 recruiting class is a long way away from signing landing a commitment from Gordon is massive for Alabama. Kalen DeBoer has landed another top player in Alabama which could help keep other top players home.
When the rankings become final near National Signing Day, Gordon’s talents may make him the top defensive back in the class. Recruiting sites differ on which position Gordon will play in college as he currently plays cornerback but, could translate better as a safety.
Heavy Recruiting Months Lie Ahead
As the summer approaches, the next several months will be extremely busy for recruiting as some of the nation’s best athletes make their way to Tuscaloosa. The Alabama football team presently has the nation’s seventh-ranked recruiting class for 2025. Kalen DeBoer and his staff are still looking for a quarterback commitment in the 2025 class, and several other positions might benefit from more depth.
