Cam Heyward and the Steelers have yet to settle a contract for the five-time Pro Bowler, but that has not prevented him from showing up. He participated in OTAs earlier this week, after declaring his desire to play for three more seasons.

Heyward expressing his desire to play three more years could provide a huge learning experience for young Steelers defensive linemen. This includes Keeanu Benton, who had an impressive rookie campaign in 2023.

With Heyward out for large portions of the season, Benton stepped into a large role and showed he can play top-level football. With Benton and Heyward in the lineup together it could open up even more doors for the rest of the talented Pittsburgh defense.

Heyward’s impact is felt not only on the field, but off as well.

Besides the 35-year-old’s well known Heyward House foundation, he can be seen around the city showing his face and support for all around.

Heyward was shown on the big screen Wednesday as the Pittsburgh Pirates took on the Los Angeles Dodgers in a contest from PNC Park.

He appeared on the big screen with a shocked face and an eruption of cheers from Pittsburgh faithful.

Small things like this make players like Heyward so special. For this reason, No. 97 remaining in Pittsburgh can provide a boost for everyone.
