Kadyn Proctor didn’t mince words about his choice to leave and eventually return to Alabama after a few weeks in Iowa.
When speaking with 247Sports, Proctor shared that his decision to depart the Crimson Tide after losing in the College Football Playoff to Michigan was a large mistake.
“Even my parents told me that, but they were like, ‘OK, you’re going to find out for yourself.’ And that’s exactly what happened. I gave them credit. I said, ‘You’re right.’ Nothing else I can do but say, ‘You’re right, and I made a mistake.’”
Proctor earned the starting left tackle job as a true freshman last season appearing in all 13 games after coming in as the top offensive lineman in his class. His efforts also saw him be named to the 2023 SEC All-Freshman Team by the conference’s coaches.
He would enter the NCAA transfer portal on Jan. 17, where he would quickly return to his hometown Hawkeyes. Just two months later on March, reports confirmed that Proctor would reenter the transfer portal to head back to the Crimson Tide.
Upon his return, Proctor issued an apology to DeBoer as well as his teammates, reassuring them that he will be a difference-maker this fall.
“I just want everyone to know I’m ready to go,” Proctor said. “They’re going to see a different person.”
