This weekend, racing enthusiasts will flock to Virginia Motorsports Park for the PlayNHRA Virginia Nationals. They are nearly halfway through the season, with all of the drivers vying for huge wins. The Lucas Oil Drag Racing series is intended to attract some of the sport’s finest drivers. This year’s Virginia NHRA Nationals return to Virginia Motorsports Park. This track is a popular favorite among divers and fans. It’s known as one of the quickest courses on the NHRA circuit.
“There’s a lot of talent, probably the best that we’ve ever seen,” said driver Justin Ashley. “Maybe even in the history of NHRA, so I think it really speaks volumes of our team, so we’re proud of what we accomplished so far, but at the same time, our mindset is really all about focusing on the present moment.”
Although hot, the weekend is full of races, and in the professional categories, three qualifying sessions will be held on the same day.
Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle for the first time, giving racing lovers a full day of non-stop action leading into Sunday’s eliminations.
As the driver of the Scag Toyota Dragster, Ashley has already had two wins this season and is focused on locking in this weekend.
“We’re not worried about the past, we’re not worried about the future, we’re worried about being the very best versions of ourselves that we can be in the here and the now, and it happens to start this weekend with our upcoming race in Virginia,” said Ashley. “So right now, we’re strictly focused on putting our best foot forward there and hopefully leaving with a third win on the year.”
