The Clemson Tigers have added the East Carolina Pirates to their football schedule for 2029, according to an announcement made Friday. Clemson will host East Carolina at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina, on Saturday, September 1, 2029, in the season opener for both institutions. The game will also be the Tigers and Pirates’ first encounter on the gridiron. Clemson will face East Carolina as its third non-conference opponent in 2029. The Tigers will also host the Georgia Bulldogs on September 15 and visit their in-state rival South Carolina Gamecocks on November 24 that season.
“We are very excited to add Clemson to our schedule,” East Carolina Director of Athletics Jon Gilbert stated. “East Carolina is committed to challenging high-caliber non-conference opponents as we continue to promote our brand around the country. “This is another fantastic opportunity for our program to play in Memorial Stadium (Death Valley), one of the best college football atmospheres in the country. We continue to try to strike a careful balance between playing guarantee games and delivering a competitive schedule for our program and fans.” East Carolina’s 2029 non-conference schedule now includes three games. The Pirates are also set to host the Old Dominion Monarchs on September 15 and the Liberty Flames on September 22 of that season.
