Michigan football is a top contender for four-star wide receiver Taz Williams. The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder from Red Oak, Texas, paid Ann Arbor a visit this spring and is scheduled to return this summer.

The On3 prediction algorithm now ranks Michigan football as the frontrunner. Ohio State was in the mix, but it appears that they are no longer in contention. Williams informed Rivals’ Marshall Levenson that he will announce his commitment on July 13th to Michigan, Texas A&M, SMU, and Penn State.

Where Michigan football stands with Taz Williams

Williams is ranked No. 293 overall in the 2025 recruiting class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Alabama and Ohio State were on the schedule for official visits according to Williams’ 247 Sports profile but since those teams were cut from his top-four list, I doubt he’ll make those trips.

Williams will pay official visits to Penn State and Texas A&M universities. Michigan football will host him for his final official visit. That can be beneficial in certain circumstances. Sometimes the timing does not appear to be as important. It’s fantastic to have the last word, though. Michigan is in the running for some top wide receiver prospects, including Quincy Porter and Derek Meadows, who both visited Ann Arbor this past weekend. Williams, however, is a dynamic talent. Last season, he had 80 receptions for 1,251 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The Wolverines also don’t have any wide receivers committed yet in the 2025 class and getting a commitment from Williams would be a good place to start.
