Four-star cornerback and Gators’ commit Jaelen Waters was back in Gainesville this past weekend during Florida’s “Grill in the Ville” recruiting event on Saturday. The 2026 defensive back originally had a visit lined up with Miami but decided to visit the Gators instead.

“I got the days mixed up. I was planning on going to Miami, but once I found out that the visits were on the same day I went to Florida,” Waters said.

The 26 prospects in attendance this weekend were divided into four teams on Saturday as they competed in a Scavenger hunt around campus, which seemed to be the highlight for most of the recruits that participated.

The activities, we did some activities outside and stuff like that. That was the highlight,” Waters said.
Despite having visits lined up in the future, Waters is still locked in with the Gators while recruiting other prospects for the Gators.
“I’m feeling good, I’m still locked in. I feel like this is home.”
With the Hurricanes not getting their visit with Waters this past weekend, Miami looks to be the team he will visit next along with the Tigers.
“I plan on visiting Miami, and I’ll go to LSU. Those two and Texas A&M are the teams I’m currently looking at.”
Waters is looking for one thing from the Florida Gators next season.
“Just beat Miami. I just want to beat Miami.”
Waters plans to be in town in week one on August 31st.
The Seffner, Florida native currently holds a total of 28 offers and is the only commit in the 2026 class for the Gators other than 2026 quarterback Will Griffin. The four-star defensive back is the 14th cornerback in the 2026 class according to 247Sports and has recorded 20 total tackles and 6 passes defended in eight games played at Armwood High School.
