Stockton (Calif.) St. Mary’s 2027 receiver Osani Gayles had an outstanding spring and summer, and his recruitment has skyrocketed as a result. Gayles is closing in on double-digit offers just weeks before his sophomore season begins. Stanford made one of the most significant offers to him personally; his father, Eddie Gayles, was a member of the 1999 Pac-10 champion Cardinal team that competed in the Rose Bowl.
Stanford is one of those schools that I’ll always be around and one of the top schools there is,” said Gayles. “Coach (Tyler) Osborne has been recruiting me there.”
After a stellar showing at the Northwest Showcase and AveryStrong Showcase, including WR MVP honors at the latter, Oregon and Washington offered him.
He visited both of those schools in June as well as Oregon State, which offered him in May.
“Oregon had amazing facilities and at Oregon State, coach Kefense (Hynson) took me in to his meetings and Washington was really nice too,” said Gayles.
In all, Gayles has offers from Nevada, Cal, San Diego State, Oregon State, Oregon, Washington, Colorado State, Washington State and Stanford
Other schools of interest to Gayles early on are UCLA and USC, having camped at USC in June.
He also had a terrific track season as a freshman and was part of the St. Mary’s 4X100 relay team that finished 3rd in the state. He also ran a 10.76-100m and long jumped 22’11”.
