Kingsley Eguakun, an undrafted rookie center, has caught the eye of the Detroit Lions coaching staff owing to his strong start in training camp. An ankle injury ended his senior season at Florida, allowing Detroit’s personnel department the opportunity to offer the 6-foot-3, 304-pound lineman an undrafted rookie free agent deal with a solid guarantee ($245,000). Eguakun impressed several evaluators during the Senior Bowl, consistently winning reps against elite collegiate prospects.

Eguakun impressed several evaluators during the Senior Bowl, consistently winning reps against elite collegiate prospects. According to Justin Melo of The Draft Network, “Eguakun is a strong prospect with the foundation and leverage required to combat a variety of skill sets at the point of attack.” He is an experienced prospect, having made 30 SEC starts and 42 overall appearances. Eguakun was credited with allowing no sacks in 901 career pass protection reps.

Eguakaun also delivered an amazing pre-draft exercise. The Jacksonville native boasted a 32-inch vertical and a 9-foot-1 broad jump. He also completed the 4.51 shuttle and 7.57 three-cone. The results earned Eguakun a 9.09 Relative Athletic Score, despite the lack of an official 40-yard sprint time.” Against the Giants, the 23-year-old successfully sealed off defensive tackles and made a nice block on a linebacker, giving the coaching staff confidence to play him more in the coming weeks. Conor Galvin suffered a torn MCL against the Giants, terminating his 2024 season and reducing Detroit’s offensive line depth.
